AmaZulu FC is in the market and has their sights set on a SuperSport United midfielder as the team looks to improve on its performance from the previous season. The PSL transfer window will start around two weeks after the 2023–2024 season ends. AmaZulu concluded the previous season in a miserable 11th position in the league rankings, making it a season to forget. They had a lackluster season the previous year as well, having performed poorly in the 2022–2023 campaign.
Earlier this year, Sandile Zungu, the club president, stated on this website, “There is no question that probably we will be in the transfer market.” The Durban-based team has already signed its first player in front of the upcoming campaign. Senzo “Mbhobho” Ndlovu, who was playing for Sinenkani FC in the ABC Motsepe League, was hired by them. AmaZulu is reportedly looking to get Jesse Donn to strengthen their central midfield position.
With just four appearances in the league last season, the 25-year-old saw little playing time. He appeared in 11 games total across all competitions. Prior to the commencement of the previous season, Donn was on the verge of leaving Matsatsantsa due to an expression of interest from Stellenbosch FC. What was surprising, though, was that he did not move. Grant Margeman and Siphesihle Ndlovu are consistent starters, hence his chances of seeing playing time are limited.
Donn joined the Swanky Boys from Ubuntu Cape Town in 2018 after rising through the youth ranks of the Tshwane-based team. If the deal goes through, Donn will be in the running for the jersey at Usuthu against players like Ben Motshwari and Ethan Brooks. Three players, Augustine Kwem, Veluyeke Zulu, and George Maluleka, have already left AmaZulu. The loss of Maluleka means that another central midfield player must be added.
