Although Da Cruz is likely to join Nabi Chiefs alongside them, reports on the most recent Chiefs technical team have not yet been formally confirmed.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Nabi, who has been strongly linked to the coaching position with the Chiefs for a while, acknowledged getting offers from South Africa and other places. He may soon sign with Amakhosi, though, according to sources, which would be a big addition for the team. Furthermore, it has been disclosed that Fernando Da Cruz will also be attending the Black and Gold with Nabi.
WHAT REPORTS SAID?
The 51-year-old former technical director of FAR Rabat has been linked to a move to Naturena before, according to a report from SABC Sport. A year ago, he was in talks to replace Arthur Zwane at the Soweto giants. It is now anticipated that Da Cruz would travel to Johannesburg this week in order to start preparing the groundwork for new coach Nasreddine Nabi. “Although the two have never collaborated previously, it is thought that Nabi has insisted that Da Cruz join his technical staff after being pleased with his work at FAR, where he replaced the Frenchman at the beginning of the 2023–24 season,” the article said.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
After finishing in 10th position during the dreadful 2023–24 Premier Soccer League season, the Glamour Boys are in serious need of technical staff adjustments. Following their worst-ever PSL finish, management is under pressure to make significant changes that will improve the team’s prospects going forward.
WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?
Fans of Amakhosi will be closely following developments as the team has not yet released any formal statements. In addition to the expected adjustments to the technical staff, the transfer window starts in July, with the possibility of new players joining and existing players leaving the team.
