A source claims that Chelsea is thinking about making a summer attempt to sign Nottingham Forest’s Brazilian defender Murillo.
- Chelsea target defender Murillo
- Not prepared to meet Forest demands
- May offer two players in exchange
- Consequently, what happened?According to UOL, the Blues are seriously considering a deal with Forest for the center-back and have already contacted them about it. The 21-year-old is being sought by Forest for £51 million ($64 million), but Chelsea has stated that they would not meet that amount.
- THE LARGER IMAGE Rather, the West London club is willing to make an offer for two players in order to persuade Forest to settle for a lesser sum for the player. But Atletico Madrid reportedly made an approach in March, so the Blues are not the only team interested in Murillo.
- WERE YOU AWARENESS? Murillo only signed a five-year contract with Forest after leaving Brazilian team Corinthians in August of 2023. In his first season, he made 36 appearances in all competitions, helping Forest escape relegation to the Championship. Ten percent of the money Forest receives for Murillo is due to Corinthians. According to reports, Chelsea will continue to focus on developing players rather than players who are nearing peak development, such as Christopher Nkunku and Raheem Sterling.
- Next? Since Todd Boehly became a co-owner in 2022, Chelsea has been spending a lot of money on new players, and if they want to add Murillo during the summer transfer window, they might have to keep spending large.
